upcoming ski races

James posted important information on the Eastern High School Championships Qualifier race this Saturday (March 3) at Titcomb mountain in Farmington. The first 24 skiers across the finish line at the EHSCQ will represent the Maine Team at the Eastern High School Championships, in which state teams compete against each other. This is a great opportunity to meet and team with our competitors during the year. Even if you don't think you're competitive for the Maine Team, the qualifier race will be fun because of the pursuit format. It's a great way to meet other fast skiers.

James mentioned the Rangeley Loppet but another (and much less expensive) race that I am doing and would love to see an organized group of skiers do is the Carl Johnson Memorial Race on Saturday March 10. This is a VERY low key fundraiser for ALS at the Great Glen trail center in Pinkham Notch NH (at the base of Mt. Washington - the other side than Bretton Woods). All the fast racers will be at another NENSA Marathon at Bretton Woods the same day. The Carl Johnson is a 3 hour ski-a-thon of a 5K loop. You just do the loop over and over for 3 hours. The Great Glen trails are very fun to ski and they have a great lodge. You can race it or ski it hard or just ski for total fun. It's only $20 but its also a fundraiser for ALS so if you could get some pledges than the ALS society of NE would be very happy indeed. The race also has a wacky tights contest so go out and find some wacky tights now! Please e-mail me (Jeff) if you are interested in skiing this an we can organize rides.
