This is still in the works regarding details, but James and I have discussed setting up summer roller skiing for people who are interested.
It would be three times a week, starting when we are able to work with you guys in a coaching capacity again. Workouts would range in length from 1 to 2 hours, building in duration and intensity throughout the summer. Attendance would be voluntary and free, but we would require helmets, water, and time keeping devices.
Still to be worked out details include:
1) Distribution / signout of team roller skis
2) Parental permission to ski on open roads in Falmouth and maybe Cumberland
3) Start times
4) A session or two in the Woodlands or behind the school run by team volunteers to help new skiers get acquainted with roller skis before the real workouts start.
We would also come up with a 5k fitness test for people interested in gauging their progress throughout the summer. If you have a heart rate monitor, you'll be encouraged to wear it. It would also be a good idea to put dedicated roller skiing tips on your poles so that you don't trash your snow tips.
