Wed-Fri practice
If you are racing EHSC qualifier this weekend, see the link to the MCN blog above but here are some thoughts about that. If you are racing at the J2 festival, that should be your focus even if you are racing EHSC qualifier, so I would suggest not tapering for the race (i.e. three easy days in a row). So add a level 3 (tempo) workout on Thursday on roller skis. Or, if you are a runner (Tim & Jay) and it's raining do 5 miles of pole running with 3 miles at a good pace (level 3 but not more!!!). Then take today or Friday off and race on Saturday, which will be a good level 4 workout. That said, no one will lose fitness because they took Wednesday through Friday off because of weather. Again, I would use Sunday to find snow - that will likely be your last chance to really work on certain techniques on snow (kick, turns, transitions, whatever). Other technique (double poling, V2) you can work on with roller skis. Next week it looks like you will have to substitute roller skiing for skiing. Try to get in an interval workout on Tues or Wednesday (whichever looks like the better weather day for roller skiing).
