Skiing until J2s/EHSC

The Eastern High School Championships are March 12-14 at Gunstock NH. This is a team event, where skiers represent their state. The qualifier for this event is at Sugarloaf Nordic Center next Saturday (Feb. 27). The qualifier is a pursuit with both skate and classical. Your start in the 2nd event is based on the time in the first event. First 20 across the finish line in the 2nd event qualify! If you like to race, do this even if you don't think that you will qualify because more racing experience will make you a better racer. Plus it's fun and you'll meet other fun kids from all over the state.

So, if you are a J2 qualifier or would like to race at the EHSC qualifier at Sugarloaf, you should keep skiing this week and next. I am trying to organize my afternoon schedule but I think I will be able to drive some skiers out to Pineland on three afternoons (Tues, Thur, Fri). This Sunday (two days from now) Mrs. Abramson would like to caravan up to Sugarloaf (about 2.5 hours) to ski the course. This is also a great opportunity to get some classic skiing in if you are going to J2s. I'm interested in seeing the Sugarloaf course but I need to check my schedule to see if I can join the caravan Sunday.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to coach at the EHSC qualifier at Sugarloaf on Saturday because Cacky and I are joining the Beliveau's for the Great North Woods 30K Classic race at The Balsams. And after Saturday Feb. 27, James and I are not allowed to coach according to Maine Principal Association rules.

Please send me an e-mail if you are interested in skiing Sunday, next week, and the next! - Jeff
