Excellent job today everyone. Our workout today was just a taste of what's to come. Our goal was to do two sets of 3 x 3 min intervals with 2 min. recoveries. Each segment of skiing hard was supposed to last 3 minutes. Because of the creek crossings that we needed to avoid, I think ours only lasted 1-2 minutes. We were all breathing hard after skiing the segment, but the goal was to continue skiing (and breathing hard) for another 1-2 minutes. Hopefully, the storm heading up the coast will veer north and dump on us. Then we will be able to do proper 3-4 minute hard segments. So imagine skiing hard 1/2 way around the field, like we did today, but then skiing hard for the second half. And then another half. We should be tired after 6-8 of these!
Skiing hard on the back field today also gets me excited about everyone skiing it when we have fresh snow. There is great terrain in community park, better than behind the high school, so we should get really terrific training in this season. And when we get more snow, we'll groom out a more fun course on the back field, including a steep, sharp downhill turn so that we can practice these safely.
Tomorrow: Pineland at 1PM if you can make it. Or go when you can. Or go ski fresh snow in the mountains with your family.
Next week is an easy week. Woohoo.
