UPDATE! We are expecting 2-4" snow monday, cold & wind Tuesday, and cold Wednesday. Be Prepared. Monday's high is expected to be above 32 so be prepared for wet snow.
0.1 Winter Boots!
0.2 Hand & foot warmers - the little chemical packs that you can pick up at EMS or Beans (or probably any drug store)
0.3 An extra layer for Tuesday. An insulated jacket will likely be ok.
1. SKIS, POLES, BOOTS - wax them and pack them - both classic and skate if you have them
2. sleeping bag and pillow
3. ski gloves/mittens
4. extra gloves/mittens for use while not skiing - pack these now!
5. layers, layers, layers.
- Wool or synthetic baselayer.
- Bring at least 2 baselayers to rotate (1 morning, 1 afternoon)
- Windlayer either underneath or on top. An insulated jacket is (for most people) TOO MUCH for nordic skiing.
- Boys - pack your wind briefs.
6. Wool socks, at least two pair. Best to put on a new pair after lunch but both pair can be re-used the next day.
7. sneakers - don't forget!
8. headlamp for evening ski - a good one is a petzl tikka. Cheap ones at wal-mart are fine.
9. kickwax - to throw in a pocket while you're out skiing.
10. Water bottle - ideally with a holder that you can ski with. It's very easy to get dehydrated on a long ski and you won't realize it until it's too late.
11. ipod - you can ski with this on the long, slow skis but not our technique or fartlek skis
Stay tuned because we may add more stuff to this list.
